台北行 Day 5, Part 1 之 城外篇 - 桃園龍潭,小人國。

Day 5, woke up to get ready for our full day excursion to 小人國.  It is about an hour drive from Taipei City.

The boys had a good night sleep and were excited to show off their identical caps, 父子帽.
He is getting very cheeky and fun, but at the same time, extremely difficult to handle when he is cranky.
We set off from Sheraton at 10am, the traffic was generally smooth, we reached at 11.10am. Just in time for the acrobat show at the 民俗劇場。
The kids enjoyed the show, especially Sarah, who was entertained by the agility of the acrobats.
After the show ended, we proceeded to begin our Gulliver's travel, entering the small world, 小人國。
They have a very impressive collection of miniature ships, trains, buildings and infrastructures, done to scale with intricate details. The kids were awe struck.
Watching the ships cruising in the harbour.
Our 全家福 + 1, daughter of the man who helped us to take this photo! haha! Sarah suddenly turned camera shy! Oh, she is wearing her 2 piece sailor uniform, bought from 淡水 just the night before.
The train running along the elevated tracks.
Went to the edge of the dock for a closer look.
There was a ship launching ceremony, as the ship was been launched into the water, there was a miniature military band playing music and crowds waving.
Something caught her attention.
The container crane in motion, picking up the container and loading it onto the freighter.
Archie was watching with interest, the helicopter taking off from the naval ship's deck.
Sarah was concerned with the traffic condition on the highway. She was asking why certain vehicles were stopping by the road shoulder.
A replica of the Taoyuan International Airport.
I wonder if he could see beyond the hedge.
Sarah had to stand up to catch a glimpse of the 747 moving along the taxi way.
Archie discovered an amusement park!
Ma & Sarah were on the other side.
A zoo with swinging chimpanzees.
We, in front of the 中正紀念堂。
In front of the Taiwan Presidential Office Building, Ma Ying Jiu, 小馬哥 was not in.
Messing around with the big bell.
天壇!
Archie was there!
The forbidden palace was not forbidden to him.
As the Chinese saying goes "不到長城,非好漢!"
Part 1 of the theme park, the small world completed. Now to the amusement park,  to get there, we had to hop on this train.
Tea plantations lined the sides of the tracks.
We managed to get into a special cabin which was extra spacious, that allowed the kids to board the train without getting out of their prams.
Just in time for the show again, the clown performance was starting, just as we stepped into the amusement park. Nothing breathless taking, just some simple entertaining magical tricks, that were good enough for the kids.
The kids enjoying their snacks and refreshments along with the show.
Our first ride, in the boat around the moat of the castle.
Her tiara hairband glittering under the sun.
Pa had to hold him tight, for fear that he would wriggle his way into the waters.
That's Sarah for you, with an over the top pose.
A pretty smile!
Archie was in a good mood as well.
End of our ride.
不知不覺,she is a big girl now, she is able to climb up the stairs without the need to hold our hands. 長大了,不需要牽我們的手了!
She got to sit in her favourite coin-oped car, something which we seldom let her do in Singapore.
She wanted to be a cabbie.
Archie had better taste in cars.
It really looks as if he is driving the car in this photo.
Flushing out the mole! 打地鼠!
Thomas and his two little friends.
小綿羊。
龍爭虎鬥!Everyone wants the same thing. Whats new?
For a moment, she relented and agreed to be the pillion rider.
Then they started fighting for control!
She went on to fiddle with the other controls in the arcade room.
似模似樣。
The winner takes all. Always bullying his sister.
She is game to try anything.
Taking a popcorn break. Toy divides them, food unite them.
She went into the 'haunted house' with Pa.
When asked, Sarah said she was not afraid. But she sat very close to me, was very quiet and tensed throughout the ride.
We went deep underground into the goblins' lair.
She has more courage than I thought.
Back to the surface and onto the carousel.
Took her a while to choose a horse to ride.
Happy with her choice.
Then the excitement died off.
Archie was screaming and crying, while watching the action by the side. Protesting against the unfair treatment of not being allowed to go on the ride. In the end we all took a second ride with him.

Nice?
親子廁所。This is such a great idea, both kid and parent could use the toilet at the same time!
Now to the outdoor area of the amusement park.
Nice?
Obviously being forced.
On the receiving end of the cold treatment! Poor boy!
She got free stickers from the staff, as Pa agreed to do a survey for them.
Open 小將!We actually came for Doraemon, we did not know that he had already been dropped, probably due to attitude problem or either that he went back home to Japan.
Front row seat!
Those crews inside the costumes were really good, their movements were so nimble despite having to don the cumbersome costumes.
All the kids were dancing in front of the stage. Sarah wanted to join in, but she was shy and did not have enough confidence in her dancing skills. They were all dancing to sychronised dance steps which I suspected they learned off local tv.
I'm surprised by her courage today, normally she is afraid to try out new things. But she said she wanted to take this ride with Mama.
Hanging there.
Then they went on the plane. All the while Archie was crying and yelling by the side, as a reluctant spectator, as he is below the stipulated 90cm height requirement.
On the rocking boat!
Having a lot of fun.
Finally something that he can ride.
A lovely shot of the father and daughter walking together.
To the Safari!
He was in a better mood after he got to take the previous ride.
But he was excluded from this one again!
Sarah is the driver for once and Pa got to relax at the back.
So far so good.
Watch out! Lady driver on the road!
We went on to our final ride of the day, the ferris wheel.
The two of them were excited by our ever increasing height.
A kiss for Mama.
Cheeky.
She took a picture of us.
A view of the amusement park from up there.
It was very cold and very windy at the top, we were freezing, luckily we remembered to bring jackets and cardigans for the kids, but not for ourselves!
The strong wind blowing Mama's hair all over the place.
Everyone wants to be the statue of liberty.
Took a photo with the mascot before we headed for the exit. It was around 430pm and the theme park was almost deserted. All the crowd has left, as the sun was setting.
Waiting for the train to take us back to the exit.
He had fun today.
She had fun today too.
Next stop, 士林夜市。
