Tanglin Tree

We pre-celebrated Sarah's second birthday on 30th May, Sunday with my folks namely, Aunt Jen, Grand Aunt Marg, Uncle Nick, Grand Aunt Sue and Grand Uncle Alan. We made reservation for lunch at Tanglin Tree but as our typical day begins at 7am, we popped by Membina first. We fixed up the supermarket trolley given by Aunt Jen and there she is happily posing for the camera with her new toy.

Look at her shopping cart! She obviously went round the house to have it filled up with all sorts of stuff from fridge magnets to wooden blocks to soft toys!

This picture is funny. I cannot really recall what happened but I think she was trying to walk backwards away from the trolley. Silly girl in action I would say. Lol.

Cheeky girl emptied the cart and insisted that Papa let her sit inside. Thankfully she was willing to get out of it after a while or we can all say goodbye to the trolley. Poor papa was sick that day. He was running a high fever and had a bad bad throat for a couple of days in fact. Not to be a spoiler, he wanted to go through the day as planned so that his little princess will have a memorable birthday with my folks. Sweet papa!!!

Manja-ing around with Ah-Yi...

Our little boy Arch was sleeping on the mattress despite all the excitement around him. Nope, our energetic Sarah was not sleeping beside him. She was just pretending to do so cause she wanted to imitate him!

Yes, this is a picture of us in the toilet. Sarah kept saying she wanted to poo poo so we put her on the toilet bowl. In the end, no poo but she forced out little trinklets of pee. Perhaps to please us? : P
We got Aunt Jen to help us snap this shot as it was the first time we put her on the toilet bowl after knowing that the teachers started potty training her. Erm, from the look of her face, I think she seems to enjoy the process of potty training so far.

Playing with different types of hats that Grand Aunt Marg took out.

Getting all so ticklish when Papa put on one of the hat to take a picture together with her

Aunt Jen helped us take a couple of family shots as Sarah's teacher requested for a family picture for some school activity next week. Love these family shots!

Arch is awake......

reluctantly... *yawns*

Time to head for lunch. One of the hats came along with us as the princess was unwilling to part with it

The entrance of our lunch venue taken by a friendly waitress

We did not bring our pram out so everyone took turns to carry little Arch

Sarah was pleased to find a bookshelf just behind our table with lots of books and magazines. She got herself busy with the books whilst we were checking out the menu.

Papa said he like this shot of Arch = )

Went out to explore the restaurant after placing our orders. There is a nice playhouse outside but as the sun was scorching hot, we did not venture there. Saw a little swing in a shaded corner and let her sit in it.  I think she is not quite into swings from my observation after letting her sit on them on a couple of occasions at Membina playground and here. In no time, we were back into the restaurant.

Luckily for Sarah, her food was served as soon as we got back. Fish & Chips! It is a fairly huge portion considering that it is under the kids menu.

This is her first time eating western lunch. She was so engrossed that she din even realise we went outside to take a picture of her eating away through the window glass. Grand Aunt Sue had to tell her to look up.

We found out she loves tartar sauce. I think she finished up the whole saucer of it, constantly dipping the fries and fish into it. Without the tartar sauce, she refused to eat. She even used her fork to dip into the sauce and then lick it away happily. As it was her birthday celebration, we made an exception and did not really restrict her like how we usually would.

The bookshelf behind our table which I mentioned earlier. She asked to get down her child seat after eating to get more books.

She found a doodle in the midst of the books

Fish & Chips was the 'hot' dish of the day. Haha. Sarah had Fish & Chips, here is Aunt Jen with her Fish & Chips,

and Grand Aunt Marg with her plate of Fish & Chips

Grand Uncle Alan with Arch.

Papa displaying his photography skills with this composition whereby he made use of the mirror beside our table to capture us. It's cool, Papa!

The restaurant actually charges a corkage fee if we were to bring our own birthday cake. As we felt it was not quite worth it plus it would be interesting to have candles on something different, we did away with the birthday cake. We got her 'frog in the pond', the name of the jelly. I thought it was a cute name. There was a cherry stuck to the bottom of the jelly and and there was supposed to be the chocolate that is on the saucer stuck to the top. As we requested for 2 candles, the chocolate had to be forsaken for fear it will melt.

The flames of the candles caught Sarah's attention immediately. Somehow, she knew it was for her and she started smiling away shyly as we sang Happy Birthday to her. Our sweet angel tried to sing along but her voice was drowned by her shyness. Check out the video below =)

Enjoying her treat

Concentrating seriously as she check out the present given by Grand Aunt and Grand Uncle.

Woah, a sexy pink bikini she got and a red packet. Returning her thanks shyly with hugs to each of them

As we wanted to get new pillows and bolsters, we hopped over to Friven & Co which was just next door. Sarah got all excited when she saw Hi-5 merchandise there. She spotted Jup Jup soft toys and many other things. She held on to this Hi-5 hand thingy all around the shop as we walked around.

A cute beanbag, a cute metal lunch box and.....

HORSEY!

We fell in love with this Horsey stick (which made neighing sounds when its left ear was pressed) as much as Sarah and soon it was officially an addition to our family. Hee... From the moment Sarah set her eyes on the horsey, she had it stuck in between her legs wherever she walked. We had to tear off the tag so that the cashier boy could scan it during payment as she refused to let go of it. Papa had a harder time just helping her walk down the stairs with horsey. "FUNNY"

Here she is proudly walking on the streets with her Horsey.

A lovely shot of Papa, Sarah and Horsey before we all headed home.

It was a very lovely and happy day and we could all tell that the birthday girl was a really happy one. Thanks Papa for suggesting such a lovely restaurant and for going through the day despite being so ill. Thanks all on behalf of Sarah for the lovely gifts.
