Enroute
Our Nikoi adventure begins! After an hour's ferry from Tanah Merah to Bintan Ferry Terminal, we cut across Bintan to it's east coast to catch a boat to Nikoi.
The winding bumpy journey made Sarah unwell, she threw up during the car ride onto herself and Pa. We had to stop halfway and changed clothes, as well as cleaning up the car! What a start!
Finally we reached jetty! The sun was blazing and the shades were out!
The boat taking us to Nikoi.
Mr Cool.
He was very concerned with keeping his shades in the correct position.
The sea breeze blowing in her face made her feel a little better. Her tan blends well with her loud dress and hat! After 30 minutes, Nikoi is in sight!
The staff waiting to welcome us at the jetty.
Day 1
After getting off the boat, we had to cut through a jungle trail to get to the resort.
There is no tarmac or motor vehicles on this island, it's just sand and greenery everywhere. The paths are laid with sand, the kids took off their shoes to feel the ground, they eagerly picked up sticks and started doodling as they walked.
The kiasu Singaporean always need two sticks instead of one!
The lush greenery and glorious sunshine makes the colours of the photo so vibrant.
Archie is taking his own sweet time slowly exploring, he is lagging far behind the entire group.
He doesn't care, he does everything in his own time.
While waiting to check-in at the bar, the kids explored the tree-house.
He has become a little adventurer the minute he stepped off the boat. Guess what is inside his bag back, his precious collection of Tomica cars! Never leave home without them!
Sarah managed to get up to the 'penthouse'
Our room was still not ready, so we went for lunch. Clever idea to have the floor of the restaurant of a beach resort paved with sand, guests don't have to worry about dirtying in, straight after the coming in from the beach! While waiting for food, the kids are occupied with sand play.
What's an island vacation without a coconut drink!
He tried a sip and decided that it was not his cup of tea.
Kid's lunch, fried fish with veggie.Archie enjoyed his fish.
Ma enjoyed her freshly fried belachan chilli.
Sarah enjoys herself whenever she goes.
One big drama queen.
We enjoyed our lunch.
For adults, we had stir-fried seafood in gong bao sauce, yummy!
While waiting for the rest of the family to finish their lunch, Sarah decided to rest on the restaurant's floor.
After lunch, our house was ready, needless to say, the first thing after putting down our bags was to head to the beach.
Lovely white sandy beach with very fine sand.
The weather was perfect, sadly, the best for the rest of our trip!
The hunk is ready to hit the waves.
He is more of a sand-man than a aqua-man.
Sarah taking a break on the deck chair.
Thoughful of the management to provide drinking water at the beach front.
While collecting seashells, Ma picked up a shy hermit crab!
Next up, something more challenging, jetty jump!
After seeing the Aussie kids jumped off the jetty one by one, I cheekily asked Sarah if she like to have a go at it. To my surprise, she was game!Getting ready for her first jump.
She got cold feet as she stood at the edge, looking down into the deep blue sea. She wanted to try but she was really scared too. She said she would jump if Pa did it together with her.
She did it!
And she came back asking for more!
She inspired Archie, now he is asking to do it too!
Everybody in high spirits while waiting for Pa to get some life jackets.
Emotions can change at the snap of the finger, she accidentally tripped on Archie's leg,
You can't keep a happy girl down for long! Everybody's excited with their lifejacket!
The biggest surprise of the day, Archie volunteering himself, despite refusing to step into the sea while we were playing by the beach earlier! He is never predictable!
On my call of 3, he plunged into the deep blue sea without hesitation.
He went deep into the water and was shocked by it, guess it wasn't what he imagined! Although he panicked and struggled, the brave boy did not cry.
Now Sarah for her 3rd jump of the day.Done with a smile as always.
To be continued!
