The other side of the causeway

We made a short trip across the causeway to attend the wedding of KY's brother. As it was a wedding lunch on saturday, we decided to spend friday night in JB.

It was Sarah's first overseas trip and staying overnight away from home. We felt that this trip would be a good rehearsal for us, to prepare for the following weekend's trip to Bali. There were so many things to bring for her even though it was just a one day trip. The checklist was endless, bottles, diapers, wipes, milk powder, towels, pram etc. We checked, double checked and triple checked for fear of missing out something.

After we were packed and ready, we went down and waited for KY to fetch us. Here's Sarah waiting patiently, sitting on the ledge at the void deck.
We made it to the hotel in about an hour. Being a weekday, the traffic was smooth and clearing the custom was a breeze. However, checking in at the hotel took even longer than clearing the custom, even though there was only a queue of one.

The cousins kept themselves amused by monkeying around at the lobby. Sarah seems to have gotten over her stranger anxiety, she was busy running around trying to play with any other kids and adults alike.
Giving a cheeky smile to the camera.
After waiting for more than half an hour, we gave up and went for lunch instead. Thankfully by the time we came back for lunch, the check in counter was ready for us. By then our princess was tired from the exertions in the hotel lobby, she had to recuperate by taking a three hour nap.
Papa catching a breather while Sarah is napping. 'Enjoying' the coffee and immersing himself in a rare moment of peace and tranquility.
Our little girl recharging her stomach after waking from her power nap, munching on the organic rice cracker that Mama brought along.
After eating, our 大小姐 was enjoying herself, relaxing on the armchair to watch tv.
Some snacks to go along with the TV show.
After watching TV, she went to re-arrange Papa's mineral water bottles.
This is her masterpiece, by stuffing all the bottles in to the drawer.
By then Brian came back from his grandpa's house, so we went out for dinner. Sarah was so eager to go out that she went to try to put on her shoes by herself, which of course was unsuccessful.
The playful cousins were overjoyed to be sitting side by side during dinner, each trying to imitate what the other party is doing. Sarah trying to learn how Brian uses his cutlery, while Brian was amused with Sarah's baby talk.
As usual, she could not sit still for long, very soon she was wandering all over the restaurant.
After the heavy buffet dinner, we went for a walk at the dead quiet mall. You could hear a pin drop. There was a mini play area at the top floor, the cousins each grabbed a 'horse' and began ridding away.
She was very into the rocking rhythm,
rocking so hard that she almost flipped over, see picture below!
Of course she would not miss out on the slide, which is on her standard playground itinerary.
A simple slide is able to bring so much joy to her.
She was so tired when we went back to the hotel, and slept immediately after her milk. She could not even wait for us to brush her teeth.
The next morning, she woke up still looking very tired, but was very excited and running all over the place again when she saw Brian was up as well.
She has this habit of pulling her long sleeves to cover over her hands.
They even have to drink milk side by side.
After the milk session, they monkey-ed around on the bed while waiting for the old folks to get ready for breakfast.
I think she enjoyed her breakfast, she got to eat cheese and eggs, as well as some puddings.
Finger licking good!

After breakfast, we brought her to the pool for a dip. Even though the sun was out in full force, the water was icy cold. She like being in the pool so much that she did not seem to mind about the cold water.
She was so happy even when Mama poured water over her head.
'Mama Mia'? She was in a very good playful mood.
The weather was perfect, sunny and breezy at the same time. We stayed for about half an hour at the pool before taking her out.

'In da hood', giving a gangster gesture?
After her shower, she roamed the room and discovered her pram. She insisted on sitting on it, so we opened it up for her and she immediately climbed onto it. Sitting there like a queen, watching tv and eating her snacks.

Soon it was noon, so we made our way to the wedding. Upon sitting down at the table, Sarah grabbed the wedding favour and opened it, giving herself a treat to the cake inside. We were surprised that she knew there was food inside, as we had yet to give her one before this.

Being a typical chinese reception, most of the guests were late on arriving, so the lunch dragged late into the afternoon. The toddlers were very tired and had to be carried by their Mamas during the reception.
Little Miss Sarah woke up a while later to join in the yum-seng session, as the neighbouring tables were going through the cheers, she was cheering on as well.

The lunch ended just before four and we were waiting for KY outside the restaurant when it started to pour. The rain drops falling off the awnings caught the attention of Miss Sarah, there she is bending over to take a closer look.
So we make our trip back to Singapore, Sarah as usual was a worm. Sometimes she wanted to sit with Mama at the back, other times she wanted to sit with Papa in front. One time she wanted to be a ninja.

A tiring trip overall, the little worm was very tired and slept at 730pm that night. We are now a bit worried about the up coming Bali trip. Hope for the best! We can tame her!
