Day 1 without Papa

The day has finally come for Papa Yau to go for his reservist. This time it is for 2 weeks. I was a little filled with fear as this meant I will be all alone to take care of Sarah as well as do all the necessary chores. Morning was not so bad as Papa dropped Sarah off to school before making his way to camp. Gave him a call during lunch to receive bad news, i.e., he is not able to book out all weekend due :( my heart sank but I know it is not within his control.

Anyway, the day at work went by as thoughts of both Jerry and Sarah constantly filled my mind. I made my way to school to pick Sarah. Like most other days, she screamed the moment she saw me walking in. When I picked her up, she kept calling for Papa. "Papa, papa... where?" Not sure if she really understands but I just kept telling her that Papa went to army. Think she accepted the answer.. hee

Although thoughtful Papa gave me $$$ enough for me to take the taxi home for 2 entire weeks, I decided to take the bus because 1) weather was cool, 2) bus 54 came the moment I reached the bus stop, 3) I know Sarah enjoy bus rides and the last time she took one was like donkey months ago! So onboard the bus was me and Sarah. The bus driver was nice. He not only greeted Sarah like a friendly bus driver, he also waited till I took my seat before starting the bus (and I was right at the back seat!!!)

Sarah was a good girl. She sat down quietly, occasionally holding my hand as can be seen in the picture below, occasionally watching the tv mobile (first time i appreciate it!) and also playing with a school girl that came onboard a few stops later. She hi-5ed her and kept smiling at the big sister shyly.

A few more snapshots of Sarah on the bus for Papa to see...

Reached home. She was good today again! She sat down by the dinner table to eat her rice, veg and fish without giving me any problems at all. Well done bao! Papa will be very proud of you, mama knows. : P She played with toys for a while in the living room then started to walk up the stairs. i followed her up and realized she wanted to watch Hi-5. Well, a treat for her then. As she is watching now, i am writing this email and she is not disturbing me at all! I am now waiting for 8.30 to make her milk and put her to sleep.... hope Papa Yau is delighted to see this blog entry. You got a good gal!!! :)
